Equipment Used in Home Brewing.
A genuine beer lover can tell good beer from that which has not been brewed properly. For quality beer you have to ensure that you have the best equipment . When it comes to brewing your own beer, many who wish to take upon the endeavor might not know where to start. A lot of people think that obtaining the equipment needed to brew your own beer is very difficult but on the contrary its actually very much doable.
The first equipment to have to start brewing with malt extract is the boiling kettle which should be strong enough to handle the task. Most of the times the boiling kettles will be full of hot liquid and this means they should have insulated handles to enable ease when lifting . To brew good beer, one must observe the temperature change and this brings the need for a thermometer .
The thermometer to be used in the brewing process must be good in working with high temperatures hence the need to get a quality one. Adding yeast to a very hot brew kills it and on the other hand low temperatures are not going to make the yeast active hence one should aim for medium temperatures. To help in making the brew more quality it needs some stirring and for this, one needs a long steel spoon which cannot carry bacteria like those made from wood. After brewing the beer it needs to be fermented and hence the need for a fermenter .
A plastic bucket is the simplest fermenter and it works well but there are other types of fermenters as well. A hydrometer is a gadget that measures the density of your brew and determine the alcohol strength. Once the fermentation process is complete, one will need to transfer the beer into a bottling bucket and through the use of a plastic hose connected to a siphon put the beer into bottles. You will need a bottle caper for putting the caps on the bottles now that bottling is the last step in the home brewing process.
Sediments may be there when transferring the beer from the boiling kettle to a fermenter hence the need for a strainer which helps in ridding the sediments. All through the entire process it’s important to remember bacteria destroys the beer or the brew. Frequent sanitization is necessary for safe home brewing . Sanitization should be performed on everything involved in the home brewing process. After beer equipment has been cleaned it should also be stored properly to avoid any contamination later. Beer at the end of a long day is relaxing ,homemade beer is even better.
